Some industrial buildings for Trainz railway simulator
Просмотров 18710 месяцев назад
My new models for my latest website update are a collection of various buildings depicting a concrete pipe works, a brewery, and a gas works. Some of the models are animated and two of them are industry-enabled. This video explains how to position the concrete pipe works' buildings so that the animations link together. The gas works buildings are the first of what I intend to be a larger group ...
Splines for Trainz - an introduction
Просмотров 293Год назад
A brief outline of what is required to make splines for Trainz. I'm assuming that you've used Gmax or Blender (or whatever) to make the meshes themselves so this is how they are then organised using the config.txt file to make them appear in Trainz. Post here if you have any queries.

GWR loco nos 34 and 35 for Trainz railway simulator
Просмотров 310Год назад
These two 0-4-4 tank locos operated on the St Ives and Helston branches of the Great Western Railway in Cornwall. In this form they operated from the last years of the 19th century until the 1920s. The video also shows my new model of the GWR's Loriot M low-loader (Lowmac) wagon designed to carry up to 20 tons of machinery.
GS&WR loco and carriage no 92 for Trainz - animating the trailer bogey
Просмотров 179Год назад
Having modelled the bogey for the carriage section I show in this video how to animate the wheelsets and attach everything to the 'root' dummy. Also included is how I allocate my kuids and create the specific config file. Finally, I move the bogey to X,Y,Z = 0,0,0 ready for attachment to the loco in a future video.
GS&WR loco and carriage no 92 for Trainz 2

Moving on from the basic outlines of modelling from photos, I've created the wheelsets. In a future video I'll explain how I animate them and arrange the attachment points, as well as looking at how to write their config files. In this second part I explain how I've made the basic carriage portion side with its moulding and tumblehome, as well as the lining texture.

First video showing my making of Great Southern & Western Railway (Ireland) locos no 90, and no 92 which had a carriage section attached. I don't have a scale plan for no 92 so I'll be working from a couple of photos. These videos will show how I'll create the model from limited information.
GWR 633 class 0 6 0T Metro tank loco for Trainz
Просмотров 292Год назад
My new models for Trainz railsim are three versions of the Wolverhampton-built 633 class Metro tank designed to be used east of Paddington in the cut-and-cover Metropolitan Railway tunnels. Most of the 20 locos of this class were fitted with steam condensing gear, those without were usually allocated to work in south Wales. They were rebuilt several times over their lifetime; I've modelled the ...
GWR class 32XX Barnum loco for Trainz
Просмотров 512Год назад
My latest loco for Trainz railway simulator is the GWR class 32XX 2-4-0 loco, known as the Barnums. Constructed in 1889 these fairly powerful locomotives were used throughout the GWR for most types of traffic, especially on the secondary routes. They were nicknamed 'Barnums' as they were rostered double-headed to haul the Barnum & Bailey circus trains.
GWR sector table for Trainz made in Gmax

This video is for all you content creators out there who would like to make a sector table for Trainz. I found there were a number of pitfalls and it was eventually help from GM which got the table working for me. This is a model of the sector table installed at the end of two bay platforms so as to release the train loco.
GWR 65ft turntables for Trainz

My current model project - GWR steam rail motor number 38, one of about 100 rail motors built from about 1906 and in service until the mid-1920s. This will be the first of several rail motors which will use the same boiler/power bogey but have differing interior arrangements. I also intend to make several of the trailers which some of these rail motors pulled. In this first video I show how far...

Editor: when the ship had such a serious number of dramatic mishaps and accidents, could the reason be that the captains, officers and crew simply lacked competence and knowledge of such a large and advanced ship at this time ..? What is your opinion? A question is also: what was it in the construction that made the Great Eastern roll so much?
Sorry Steve, I have actually found the GWR turntables on your website, excellent!
Hi Steve, I thought that I had better send you a comment regarding your turntables - great idea but where do I get them? Cheers Geoff in Oz
Great work Steve. Do they work with standard gauge? And, more importantly, where do I get them, I couldn't find them in content store or on DLS.
Do you have Russian Subtitles to this video?..
I wish that some of your amazing models could be available for Trainz 2 Mobile
Hi, excellent info and photos. A few people have asked me to do a model of #1, so if you have, or can point me to, any drawings or dimensions that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Nigel
H ing4trainz, may I have your permission to modify this model to work on Trainz 2009? I hope you reply.
Program yang mungkin
i cant find the mod
Do any sort of blueprints/drawings exist for this type of rail? I'm keen to build a broad gauge diorama. Cheers.

What a fascinating glimpse into railway history! Brunel's innovative approach to track construction in the 1830s truly showcases the brilliance of engineering amidst technological constraints. If you have an interest in delving deeper into the history of the British railway system, I recommend exploring this playlist: ruclips.net/video/cH0IVL7a9U0/видео.html&pp=iAQB
1. what is the exact height that the catenary should be above the pantographs of the main railmotor? 2. where are the track, platform, and main station building? i check your site and didnt see them
The pantograph is set for the standard Trainz height, whatever that is. It should fit any suitable catenary track. I did not model track or platforms as there are suitable models of Italian railways on the DLS. I will put the main station at San Marino on my website at the next update in about a month or so.
Hi! Can you explain on how to export a object with its textures into trainz android? I need help with texture.txt file and other stuffs as I just started making today. Can you help me please?
If, like me, you are using Gmax, you need the free Trainz Asset plugin from the N3V site (there is also one for Blender). Installation is straightforward, although note that it has to be in the same folder as the gmax.exe file. Make sure the exporter's exe file has an icon on your desktop; if necessary create one in the usual way for Windows. Now use that icon to open Gmax and you will have the export option available in Gmax under 'file', top-right. It will automatically create the texture txt files. These will be of the older type, simple txt files with the tga file listed alongside the alpha. It will not create the new .texture format. However, the old type work fine for me in TRS22 etc. Make sure you move or copy the actual tga files referred to into the same folder as your exported model. You can open any of my models in Content Manager to see how they should be assembled in the folder i.e. mesh + config + .txt files + .tga files + any script file + screenshot + sound, if any. Hope that helps.
@@ing4trainz Well I tried using Blender (as I had it installed earlier) everything exports fine but texture.txt doesnt comes.
I think your best bet is to post a request on the Trainz forum - start a new question. I don't use Blender so I am not sure how its exporter addon works. There are plenty of Blender users out there so I am sure someone will be helpful. Good luck.
Sir can u make slr class s14
I tend not to make models of anything after 1950, and I would always need plans and photos. If you can find scale plans of the BR class 14 diesel then I might be tempted to put in on my 'to do' list, but I couldn't promise any production date. My email is on my website - see 'contact'.
@ing4trainz I will give u all needed please make S14 🥺🥺 don't need more details 🥺🥺 or make sri lankan railway Rumenian compartments plsssss 🥺🥺
Hi, from what I can see the Sri Lankan Railways class S14 rolling stock is brand new. As I mentioned above, I don't make models of anything built after 1950 and especially not the most modern dmu/emu types. I'm just not interested. Sorry about that. Why not try the Trainz forum to see if anyone else might be willing to undertake the project? Good luck.
@@ing4trainz so make class m2c or Class Y

Many thanks for this, just what I needed! For some reason I was not notified when this was first uploaded.
Really great tutorials and intros. I greatly appreciate your work! I’m focused on the U.S. but based in Oxford. Kudos for the great assets!
Quick question, will you ever do any industrial steam shunters for Trainz such as Peckett W4 and Sentinel 0-4-0VBGT engines?
I'm aiming to do a couple of locos suitable for the Beckton gas works with no cabs and dumb buffers but they are some way off yet. As to others it all depends on accurate plans, as I've requested on my site. I'm always open to suggestions backed up by plans and photos but I can't promise any timetable.....
She’s still there, stuck in the mud in New Ferry. Waiting for someone to fund a rescue, but only the base of the hull remains
Thank you for the series, sure takes a lot of the mystery out of building a steam engine. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Hey. Can I please use some of your footage in my films? I will credit you for it.
Which software
Gmax
I enjoyed your video immensely. My first exposure to the Great Eastern was from the book, The GREAT IRON SHIP, by James Dugan. I received the book at Christmas, 1956, have read it several times, and still have it.
I think the Great Eastern demonstrated Brunel's genius as it had so many innovations which were only incorporated into shipping many decades later. As with a number of his projects, the commercial pressures meant they could not be fully implemented in their day. Definitely the 'little giant' of engineers!
Hi, i have a question, there's a way to get Gmax3D in 2024?
It used to be available from Turbosquid but they no longer list it. I found this site online: www.fileplanet.com/archive/p-62940/gmax-v1-2 You may need to get the registration code online as well - a quick Google search should locate it. It's at your own risk, I haven't tried the site and I'm not endorsing it. Also, I understand it won't run under Windows 11. Nevertheless, I'll keep using it until I am absolutely forced to try and learn Blender.....
Thanks! I will try!@@ing4trainz
@@ing4trainz but, can you send to me your Gmax? In a Google Driver Link? Just compacting your files?
No, I don't think I can distribute it.
Usually a Windows-Registry File. Got it on a File Server. Thanks for the Tutorial!@@ing4trainz
There''s a way to get Gmax in 2024?
Yes it still available out in the internet
where? :O@@Pissoff6842
Very useful, thank you for posting this. Looking forward to giving it a try!
You're welcome!
Also, on the subject of tracks/splines, would you consider making a tutorial about how to make these kinds of assets? It doesn't necessarily have to be too in-depth, just some pointers would be much appreciated.
Yes, no problem, on the list, watch this space ...
@@ing4trainz Thanks! And as for watching this space, I already get upload notifications for this channel. :)
Of course!😎
Another lovely video. I used to visit Salisbury quite a lot many years ago...
The Stockton and Darlington Railway was originally built to 4ft 8in gauge. It was rebuilt to 4ft 8.5in in 1830.
So many PO anthracite coal wagons! What an absolutely amazing sight.
And more to come - there's another 37 in the pipeline, coal merchants in Wiltshire but getting their coal from collieries far and wide. Also a couple more of the 20-ton steel PO coal wagons 🙂
Malc sadly died. He is much missed.
Will the routes ever be public?
No, this was just a short demo route to show off the rolling stock.
Hyperloop. 🤣
Brunel is the most over-rated failure in British industrial history
Thank you for this very enlightening tutorial. This makes creating Bogies so much easier than the previous method I was using.
these are amazing! what’s your policy on reskins?
Go to my website to see my reskins policy
These models look fantastic but I do have a curious question, will you be making the broad gauge 3541 class?
Well, it's a possibility. No plans at the moment but I'll definitely consider it for the future.
Thanks Steve, - now I feel much better informed as to the process of animating a bogie for Trainz and it's not quite so much of a mystery as it was before.
Great great great great great grandfather
Doesn't exist.
I'm not quite sure what you're commenting on. Gmax still exists and I'm still making models in it - and still enjoying doing it.
An interesting and informative video, - thanks.
Class 92 (originally Class 90) H2: 1881 Combined engine (0-6-0T) and carriage known as The Cab for ferrying officials from Kingsbridge station to Inchicore. Clements and McMahon from a search on a book on the G&SWR locos on the internet like the LSWR The Bug
This is very insightful. Thanks for documenting this process!
I'm aiming to add some more videos as I go along with the model making. They'll be more in the form of updates rather than explaining each bit of the process so if there are any aspects which you feel need further explanation just post here and I'll aim to cover them.
@@ing4trainz I think showing how you rig/animate the wheels may be helpful, as well as setting up smoke/steam particle systems (showing the attachment point placement/naming, and the containers in the config).
@@Sharadise OK, will do.
Are you aware the original loco had a gauge of 4ft 1?
I set it to 4ft 8.5in so that it could run on the same track as most other early locos.
@@ing4trainz I thought so. Anyway, good work!
